Voice of Witness: Invisible Hands Book Release
Join Voice of Witness editor Corinne Goria as she discusses Invisible Hands: Voices from the Global Economy, their latest book release at 826 Valencia with Maddie Oatman, editor at Mother Jones. This event is co-sponsored by Mother Jones and is free and open to the public. Voice of Witness uses oral history to provide a reality-based understanding of ongoing injustices in the United States and around the world. Invisible Hands features the stories of men and women behind the scenes of the global economy and reveals the human rights abuses occurring there. These narrators—including phone manufacturers in China, copper miners in Zambia, garment workers in Bangladesh, and farmers around the world—reveal the secret history of the things we buy, including lives and communities devastated by low wages, environmental degradation, and political repression. Sweeping in scope and rich in detail, these stories capture the interconnectivity of all people struggling to support themselves and their families.
