Happy Reading Hour: Birthday!
For this month's Happy Reading Hour it's all things birthday. This initial celebration comes because we turns 12 on 8/26 but also, we blinked and our partners Vouched Books turned 1! We must celebrate! And we invite you to join whether it's your birthday, your half birthday, or your 1/365th birthday. As always we will be filling the space reading our students' work out loud and drinking wine. We will also be eating birthday cake (obviously), writing birthday wishes, blowing out candles (much safer than the jumping over candles that you may have experienced at our summer solstice event) Did I mention cake? There is a high likelihood of cake. Also reading from Time to Eat Cake by the students from our after-school tutoring program.
If you've missed our previous Happy Reading Hours, here's the idea: from 6pm - 8pm, we (you and us, 826 Valencia, plus our friends from Vouched Books) gather in the Pirate Store and fill the space with our melodic or not so melodic voices (you know who you are, but it's okay, we take all types here). You may choose to read a piece aloud or, for a more introspective evening, write your own. Drinks and nibbles are always available and honestly, we can't think of a better way to start a Friday night. And if you're looking for the most fun way to spend your Saturday night, join us at 6:30 at Milk Bar (1840 Haight St, San Francisco, CA 94117) for Vouched Books San Francisco's official birthday party.
