Tell Your Story: A College Essay Workshop (CLASS FULL - WAIT LIST ONLY)

(Workshop)

Jun 15,2015, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ 826 Valencia
Tell Your Story: A College Essay Workshop Taught by Stacy Kadesh Open to 10 students, rising seniors only A two-week workshop June 15 & June 29 Mondays, 6:00-8:00 PM Come and find out what they really want to know about you! College Application essays are not the same as an essay you may write for English class so you need to understand how to tell your story. Your college application will reflect your GPA, test scores, and some of your extracurricular activities. The college essay is your opportunity to tell your story in your own voice, answer questions, and connect with the person reading your application. You will participate in an interactive power point presentation and brainstorming session. You will leave with a stronger sense of the purpose for your college essays as well as some concrete ideas to help you get started. You will return for a follow up session to review and edit your first draft. In order to apply for this workshop, please send an email to workshops@826valencia.org with the following information: 1. Your name 2. The grade you will be in next year 3. The high school you currently attend 4. Why you want to participate in this workshop 5. The colleges you’re interested in applying to (optional) 6. Whether or not English is your first language (optional) Please feel free to add any other information we might find relevant. You can expect to hear from us by June 10.
