Theatre of the Oppressed: Physical Storytelling for Social Change
Taught by Bianca Catalan
Open to 12 students, ages 12–15
A one-day workshop
March 18
Saturday, 3–5 p.m.

How can our differences be honored, shared, and positively expressed within a community? At times, we can be intimidated to share the beauty of our complex understandings of the world, but in Theatre of the Oppressed, every experience is valid and necessary to create a new narrative for future generations. Although T.O. has many forms, this workshop will focus on poetry and physical storytelling as our tools for social change. Through a number of theater games and poetry writing exercises, students will become more confident in self-expression and engaging with communities similar to or different than their own.
