Join us for this week-long intensive workshop exploring the award-winning 2016 documentary film I Am Not Your Negro, based on James Baldwin’s writings and directed by Raoul Peck. Using Baldwin’s words and Peck’s images as jumping off points, we will discuss and write through issues of racism, representation, place, power, and resistance. By the end of the workshop, students will have created their own text and image vignettes, which will be published and distributed at the January 23 public screening of the documentary at Bayview Opera House.

*The final session is an optional public screening of I Am Not Your Negro, hosted in partnership with 826 National, ITVS, KQED, Youth Speaks, and Now Hunters Point.
