DATE CHANGE: Create Your Own Cabinet of Wonder! (Ages 8–11) [CLASS FULL—WAITLIST ONLY]

Mar 10,2018, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ SFAC Main Gallery & 826 Valencia Writing Lab
Taught by Jenn Doyle Crane, Kiley McLaughlin, & Amy Ress
A two-week workshop
March 3–10
Saturdays, 3-5 p.m.

Join us and discover how magical everyday objects can be! We’ll start by exploring an interactive art installation at the San Francisco Arts Commission Main Gallery by Bay Area artist Alison Pebworth called Innards and Upwards, A San Francisco Wunderkammer, which is a large-scale cabinet of wonder filled with mysterious objects and bits of local history collected from the city’s dump. After exploring the exhibition, you’ll use materials sourced from Recology to collage a visual story in your very own Wunderkammer! You’ll be able to choose from fabric, trinkets, toy figures, metal cogs and switches, faux jewelry, old photos, and more. On the second day at 826, you’ll write your Wunderkammer’s story in a creative writing workshop— you’ll get to flush out the shady characters, add some plot twists, and a surprising climax. Finally, we’ll share and enjoy each other’s creations during story time. (Please note that the first session of this workshop takes place offsite at the SFAC Gallery.)
