Last week, we had the pleasure of celebrating our amazing volunteers at a cool (but not too foggy!) picnic at Golden Gate Park. The event was a kickoff of another school year together, this time even stronger thanks to all of you who took The Pledge promising to come back in the fall. (And if you haven’t taken The Pledge yet, you can do it today!)
We gathered for an evening in the park, surrounded by beauty and enjoying delicious food provided by local eateries. Guests had the difficult task of choosing between deep dish pizza, kebabs, and amazing blueberry pies. Not to mention the decadent chocolate chip cookies. The pies were so good that volunteers even took some home. What’s better than pie for breakfast, anyway?
We had a blast catching up with old friends, and celebrating our commitment to our students. This school year will be the best one yet, with new and recurring volunteers already pledging to support us in over 500 shifts! That’s amazing. Every year, we’re blown away by your relentless dedication. THANK YOU!
And a huge thanks to the business who supported us by donating delicious food and drinks: Little Star Pizza, Mission Pie, Ali Baba’s Cave, Yemen Kitchen, Craftsman and Wolves, and Lagunitas Brewing Company. And snazzy thanks to Geese & Ganders for donating the cute paper goods! Our community rocks. See you at school! (Or after school, or on a field trip, or in a workshop…)
