Host your event at the 826 Valencia Tenderloin Center!

Did you know that you could rent our Writing Lab for your very own event, gathering, or Deep Sea Explorers Committee meeting? That’s right—the same whimsical, vibrant space we use to inspire our young authors can be used to inspire your friends, peers, and colleagues. All proceeds from your rental will go directly to supporting our free programs for under-resourced students.

Our spacious Writing Lab is a great space for a variety of activities. Furniture and amenities include:

  • 15 tables (each seats 8)
  • ~75 chairs
  • Projector
  • AV system
  • Microphone
  • Projector/screen
  • Stage
  • Treehouse
  • Two bathrooms
  • Kitchen (includes a sink, refrigerator, and microwave)

The long, sturdy wooden tables are great for group work and hands-on activities. Alternatively, chairs can be positioned in front of the stage for lectures. For readings or parties, the space is open enough to allow your guests to mingle, and there’s plenty of room for a bar, food, and/or a merchandise booth. And our treehouse mural makes for a great backdrop for photos!

In addition to the Writing Lab, King Carl’s Emporium can be opened to the guests upon request. This retail shop provides a glimpse into the magical adventures of our travelings pufferfish mascot, supplies for your next adventure, and books written by students in 826 programs.

The center is located downtown, two blocks from the Civic Center Station and is easily accessible from anywhere in San Francisco by public transit.
