MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY / 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., exact times range
Classes from public schools around San Francisco visit us for a morning of high-energy learning about the craft of storytelling, the art of podcasting, and more. Field trips need enthusiastic volunteers up front and behind the scenes to make the experience and students’ stories come to life. We’re also always seeking artistic folks to live-illustrate our Storytelling and Bookmaking field trips and anyone who has skills and experience with podcast recording, but we welcome the support of all skill-sets!
MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY / 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., exact times range
If you’re looking to support students and teachers at local public schools and have a flexible schedule, our In-Schools Program may be the place for you. We partner with teachers to create unique writing projects designed to teach specific expository, journalistic, or creative writing skills, many of which result in a publication sold in the Pirate Store.
MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY / 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., exact times range
We keep students engaged after school in a variety of ways. We need tutors to help with homework in all subjects, as well as project-based creative writing programming designed to help kids build essential skills and explore their creativity.
EVENING AND WEEKEND PROGRAMS
MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. / SUNDAYS 2:30 TO 4:30 p.m.
In our Pathways program, volunteers provide tutoring and writing support to students in grades six through twelve. On Sundays we also offer drop-in tutoring for homework help. Volunteers can also support or lead workshops in a variety of subject matters in the evenings and on weekends. Because our need for volunteers during these hours is more limited than at other times, we ask that if evenings and weekends are your only availability, you make a consistent commitment. Our volunteer engagement staff can discuss this with you further!
You’ll then receive more details about registration and be invited to an upcoming orientation. We can’t wait to meet you. And you can always email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 415-642-5905 ex. 204 with any questions about volunteering.
