826 Valencia co-founder discusses new Tenderloin center

826 Valencia co-founder Dave Eggers was recently interviewed by the Wall Street Journal Magazine about plans in motion to open a second 826 center in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District. In a neighborhood starved for community and family resources, and brimming with children in need of a place to be during the afternoon hours, 826 aims to fill this gap with our unique brand of whimsy and one-on-one tutoring assistance. “From time to time, I’ll just stand here watching the kids moving to and fro,” says Eggers. “Having an after-school safe haven would really be important.”
