Acting for Critical Thought has its exhibition at A.C.T.
After a semester of hard work, students from Downtown High School’s “Acting for Critical Thought” project showed off all they learned in a final performance on Tuesday, December 18.
Every Friday since September, these students worked with 826 Valencia to write monologues and ten-minute plays. While writing and reading plays in the classroom, they also took acting classes with teaching artists at the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.). The students’ collected works, This is Not a Play, were staged at A.C.T. and exhibited all they had learned about writing, communicating, and collaborating on and off the stage in a beautiful performance. This fall marked 826 Valencia’s third semester of partnership with Downtown High School and A.C.T., and we were honored to work with them again. Most of all, we were proud to see the playwrights’ words come to life, and we would like to congratulate the Acting for Critical Thought students on an amazing performance.
