An evening of reading and chickens

Description A reading by and for young people by 826 Valencia students, Thi Bui, Viet Thanh Nguyen, Ellison Nguyen, and Hien Bui-Stafford For who Students, families, volunteers, community members, and fans of 826 When January 18 Time 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Location 826 Valencia Writing Lab - 826 Valencia St., San Francisco, CA
"Chicken of the Sea originated in the five-year-old mind of Ellison Nguyen, son of Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Viet Thanh Nguyen; father and son committed the story to the page, then enlisted the artistic talents of Caldecott Honor winner Thi Bui and her thirteen-year-old son, Hien Bui-Stafford, to illustrate it."     We jumped at the opportunity to host these fine purveyors of fun and fiction, since we are unabashed lovers of whimsy, writing, and all things that inspire wonder. Join us for a night filled with a bit of it all — replete with goofy readings and tasty food, to boot! 826 Valencia students will open the event with their own work, then we'll welcome the creators of Chicken of the Sea to read their work for us. Refreshments, including chicken-free chicken nuggets, will be provided. Please RSVP by emailing paolo@826valencia.org.
