Student writing: animated!

We’re delighted to showcase our series of #826shorts, in which our brilliant students’ writing comes to life with animated shorts created by students at the Academy of Art University in collaboration with our friends at BBDO San Francisco.

“The Universe to Fly to with My Wings,” by Marlon Hernandez, age 9. Originally published in volume 14 of Look Closer/ Mira de Cerca, the biannual, bilingual chapbook of student writing from our After-School Tutoring program. Watch the video.

“I Notice,” by Zora Rosenburg, age 17. Originally published in Songs and Robots and Home and Us, the Journal of the Writing and Publishing Apprentices evening workshop.  Watch the video.

“Snow,” by Jessica Berrios, age 12. As a sixth-grade student in 826 Valencia’s summer writing program, Jessica responded to a writing prompt about the elements by choosing to write about snow, because she had never experienced it in her life. Watch the video.
