Buried Treasure: Digging for Gold Under Your Family Tree (Ages 11-14)

Description A one-day workshop Teacher Alex Phipps For who Open to 12 students, ages 11-14 When Sunday, January 13 Time 12-2 p.m. Location 826 Valencia Writing Lab
Have you ever wondered what life was like for your oldest relative? Were they a king or queen? Were they a hero? Were they a PIRATE!?

In this workshop we explore our ancestry through the lens of historical fiction. We want students to pick their oldest relative (living or otherwise) and have them imagine what it was like to be in their shoes. These stories can be as real or as imagined as you would like but they must be based off of a real person in their family. At the end we will compile the students' works into a chapbook that we will send home after the workshop.
