Description A two-week workshop TeacherMaura Kealey and Peter McDowell For whoOpen to 12 students, ages 11–14 When Sundays, October 14 & October 21 Time 12-2 p.m. Location 826 Valencia Writing Lab
How do you translate a poem from one language to another? If you think a simple Google Translate will do the trick, you’re in for a big surprise. In this introductory workshop, you’ll learn that translation is an art all its own. But don’t worry, you don’t need to be a multilingual expert either— we’ll give you the tools to start translating poetic works even from languages you’ve never seen before! Join us for a two-week exploration of the creative possibilities that are opened up when we move between languages.

NOTE: Familiarity with languages other than English is not required for participation in this workshop. (Though if students do have knowledge of other languages, they are more than welcome to use it!)

Join this workshop to discover what can be found in the art of translation.
