Meet the newest (returning) members of our community — the Alumni Board!
We are a group of former 826 Valencia students who have kept close ties with the organization through the years, and are now young professionals in the Bay Area. Each of us knows firsthand the powerful impact of 826 programs, and we’re excited to share our stories of how our experiences with 826 have shaped our lives. We are committed to helping connect other alumni with 826, and we hope to engage this amazing network of talented individuals as volunteers, supporters, donors, and community ambassadors. Are you an 826 alum? Reach us by filling out this alumni survey or emailing us at email@example.com.
Bianca is a San Francisco native, theater artist, and educator. She currently works at San Francisco University High School in the Community Engagement program. She is also on the Board of Directors with San Francisco Youth Theater. Her favorite thing about San Francisco is the ocean breeze.
Cléo is a tried and true Californian: she grew up in foggy San Francisco, and went to college in sunny Los Angeles, where she studied philosophy and economics. While in high school, Cléo participated in 826 Valencia’s Young Author Workshop. Then, she described herself as a “creative spirit” in her bio, which still mostly holds true. During her free time, Cléo can often be found at Ocean Beach reading a book or watching the waves.
Lily Huang Chen
Lily was born in Venezuela to a Chinese immigrant family. Later, she moved to San Francisco and attended Mission High School. Lily was one of the 2017 826 Valencia scholarship recipients. She recently graduated with a BA in Psychology and Spanish Linguistics at UC Berkeley. Right now, she is working as a DreamSF Fellow in Jubilee Immigration Advocates. During her free time, she enjoys writing, jigsaw puzzles, and eating matcha-flavored desserts.
Osvaldo is a San Francisco native. While growing up in the Bayview District, Osvaldo came in for After-School Tutoring, later joined the 826 Youth Advisory Board, and is now on the 826 Alumni Board. He is currently working at Silicon Valley Bank, advising financial technology companies on how to optimize their treasury operations.
Zora was born and raised in San Francisco, and attended 826 Valencia programs from the seventh to twelfth grade. Storytelling, teaching, and learning have been Zora’s main passions from a young age, and these passions have brought Zora back to 826 Valencia as a part of the Alumni Board. Zora also enjoys baking, playing video games, and roller skating.
