More Than Words: Zine-Making 101 (ages 8–11) // Mas de Palabras: Haciendo Zines (edades 8–11)

Description A two-week workshop Teachers Jason Katz For who Open to 12 students, ages 8–11 When July 10 & 17 Time Tuesdays, 3–5 p.m. Location 826 Valencia Writing Lab
Writing can be lonely—writers spend hours laboring over the right way to put a sentence together, finding the exact right way to deliver their message. Let's flip that script and collaborate! In this workshop, the group will choose a few themes or specific subjects and make a zine out of them. A zine is a low budget way of self-publishing that utilizes both words and images. We will cut out images from magazines, draw pictures, and write short poems….. or prose about whatever subjects we choose. Then we'll put them onto computer paper and staple them into our very own zines. By the end of this workshop, we will all be published writers.
