Do you believe that women have the right to abortion? Well, not a lot of people do. They believe it’s wrong or think it damages a woman’s body. Abortion is an issue in the United States, because some states have virtually banned the right to abortion. After a certain amount of weeks into the pregnancy you are no longer allowed to get an abortion.

First, the fetus is not considered its own person. According to an article, “This means that a fetus is still a part of the woman’s body, and early in the pregnancy, she can do anything she wants with it. Fetuses cannot survive outside the woman’s womb. A fetus is not considered its own person. Not for tax purposes. Not for life insurance. Not by the census. Not when you buy an airline or movie ticket. A fetus cannot be taken into foster care. It isn’t eligible for a kid’s meal at a restaurant. A pregnant woman who drinks a glass of wine is not serving alcohol to a minor. Governments issue birth certificates, not fetal heartbeat detection certificates.” This matters because the fetus is a part of the woman’s body and she can choose if she wants to keep it or not. Some people think getting an abortion is wrong because it’s killing a human being. A fetus is not a human being because the government doesn’t tax fetuses and governments don’t know of all pregnant women. So because the government doesn’t count pregnant women as two people, the government should not be able to tell a woman what to do with the fetus.

In conclusion, women should have the choice about what they do with their bodies. Women could have been raped and not want a reminder of their attacker. A fetus is not considered its own person, at least not by the government. Women have the right to privacy when it comes to their bodies. If you agree, help support organizations like Planned Parenthood.
