Unveiling the Young Writers’ Wall

On September 15, 2011, students, parents, and volunteers crammed into the computer lab for the unveiling of the new Young Writers’ Wall – a wall dedicated to six 826 students who exemplify leadership, are remarkable in their studies and dedication to writing, and act as positive role models at 826 Valencia.

Jorge Garcia, our Programs Director, introduced the wall to newcomers and parents, giving hints to the crowd regarding the identity of the distinguished students before unveiling the wood-framed photo of each celebrated young writer. One by one students, parents, and volunteers applauded and congratulated the new young writers.

For making this event such a special occasion for the newest celebrated young writers, we extend our gratitude to the parents of 826 students and to the volunteers who relentlessly dedicate their time to 826 Valencia. Most importantly, we congratulate the new young writers: Emily Morales (Edison Charter Academy), Petra Cardoso (Edison Charter Academy), Vanessa Perez (Rooftop School), Jasmine Chochom (St. James School), Citlalli Aguilar (Aptos Middle School), and Santiago Delgado (Gateway Middle School).
